This is my nephew Daniel. He is a character for sure! However, he is a talented little guy who has his daddy’s love of drumming in his heart too. This past summer I helped my brother move from Phoenix, Arizona to New Mexico, yes that’s right… moving during the summer time from Phoenix to the desert of New Mexico! It was insane! I flew to Phoenix early in the morning, helped pack his apartment during the day and then made the drive that same night. We didn’t reach our destination until 4:00 in the morning! The next day we unpacked everything and placed it in storage. Well I always have the urge to photograph something, so we did a spontaneous shoot in the hallways of the storage facility. We just pulled a few things out of the unit and messed around in the air conditioned building for a few minutes. I’ve learned that photography captures memories like nothing else, later when we view these images, we’ll always see the talent in little Daniel, his laughter, his innocent personalty shine through – as pure as the walls . And we will be reminded of that special weekend that I lent my brother a needed hand and a start of a new chapter in his life.
